The History of Opus

Opus, the brand, is defined by two products: Smart Tents and Opus Campers. Both ideas were thought up by director Jonathon and product designer Stuart, who was looking for a new innovative idea to help give campers more freedom to travel without compromising on quality and design. They saw a gap in the market for customers wanting an attractive alternative to the traditional caravan that was compact and easy to store. 

These conversations soon led to sketches, prototypes and production until the rest was history, and the Opus camper was born! In the years that followed, Opus Camper was shown at numerous trade shows up and down the country, building a following of like-minded campers.

 

Awards & Media

As their popularity grew at the shows, Opus was soon recognised by numerous awards for innovation. The convenience of pushing a button to erect a camper in minutes was never seen before, making it accessible for everyone.

Their awards include Good Design Award 2017, German Design Award 2018, Camping and Caravan Award 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2024. Most recently, the Opus Smart Tent won the 2024 Reddot award for product and design.

Opus T24 Smart Air Tent Package

What we love about Opus Smart tents is the integrated air pumps, which are powered by the included ‘Blow bank’ 3,000 Ah portable rechargeable batteries. Pitching has never been so easy when your tent simply self-inflates! All the airframes are interconnected so you don’t need to inflate each tube. They are also already pre-angled to increase usable space and overall durability.

Not only do the batteries inflate your tent, but you can use them to charge electricals or the LED light kits (sold separately). This luxurious tent comes complete with a wheeled carry bag, darkened bedrooms and a heavy-duty footprint to protect the sewn-in groundsheet.

We’re very impressed with the Opus Smart Tent range, and the T46 is for campers looking for the ultimate tent package. With all the same features as above, this model will sleep six people and also includes an additional front wall panel to enclose your porch area. For easier access, simply fold it back thoroughly.

It also features a side access door for extra versatility; if you would like it propped up, then consider purchasing a King Pole Set (sold separately) to turn into a canopy.

Opus Off Road Self-Inflating Camper
