The History of Kampa & Dometic
Based in the UK, Kampa has been producing tents and camping equipment since 2007. After a few successful years, they launched the Rally in 2009. It was packed with features and suitable for various caravans and motorhomes, and it soon became a bestseller.
In 2013, Kampa produced the first inflatable caravan awning, changing the game forever. Long gone are the days of poles and fiddly pitching. The inflatable awning is much sturdier, holds its shape in windy conditions, and is quick and easy to pump up, reducing pitch time.
Kampa appeals to families looking for a quality yet affordable camping experience. In 2018, Dometic acquired Kampa and became their sister brand. Dometic, formerly a brand producing refrigerators, has come on leaps and bounds since the 1920s. In the 70s, they expanded the product range to include RV and caravan accessories, producing coolers and air conditioners.
After acquiring the brand in 2018, Kampa helped Dometic expand its offerings and cater to a larger specialist audience. Since 2018, Kampa has continued to create price-oriented products, while Dometic produces premium tents, awnings, and furniture for camping enthusiasts worldwide.
