Our team of outdoor enthusiasts have explored some incredible outdoor adventures over the years, from serene woodland walks to challenging mountain descents.

In this blog, we’re sharing our staff’s favourite outdoor adventures, along with insider tips, why we love them, and what makes each trail unique.

Mountain Biking in Forest of Dean

The Forest of Dean is a mountain biker’s paradise, offering an incredible variety of trails that cater to all skill levels. Nestled in the heart of Gloucestershire, this stunning woodland is crisscrossed with purpose-built tracks, natural singletracks, and exhilarating downhill runs.

Whether you’re a beginner looking for gentle forest paths or an experienced rider craving technical challenges and adrenaline-pumping descents, the Forest of Dean has something for everyone.

Hiking in Pico Ruivo

Our next outdoor adventure is about hiking Pico Ruivo, the highest peak in Madeira, Portugal, is an unforgettable adventure that offers breath-taking views and a true sense of accomplishment.

Often starting from Pico do Arieiro, the hike is challenging yet rewarding, featuring steep climbs, narrow ridges, and well-maintained paths. Reaching the summit at 1,862 meters is a magical moment, especially at sunrise or sunset, when the golden light bathes the surrounding peaks in an otherworldly glow. Certainly an outdoor adventure to remember!

Cycling Kyoto to Arashiyama

Cycling to Arashiyama in Japan is an incredible way to experience the beauty and serenity of Kyoto. As you pedal through the city’s scenic streets, you’ll pass by tranquil riversides, traditional temples, and lush green landscapes.

This 20k round trip is a great way to get out of the hustle and bustle of Kyoto centre and embrace the countryside surrounding the city. Simply rent bikes and away you go! We love this for a favourite outdoor adventure!

Riding downhill trails in Italy

Mountain biking in Italy is a dream come true for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a wide range of trails that combine stunning landscapes with challenging terrain.

From the rugged peaks of the Dolomites in the north to the rolling hills of Tuscany and the coastal cliffs of Liguria. Italy’s diverse regions provide the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable biking adventure and we can see why this was a favourite!

Yosemite Mirror Lake Trail

This one is hard to beat! One of our staff members was hiking the Mirror Lake trail in Yosemite National Park in California and was lucky enough to see a black bear with its cubs.

Surrounded by towering granite cliffs, including the iconic Half Dome, the lake’s calm waters perfectly reflect the surrounding landscape, creating a breath-taking mirror-like effect.

The easy, relatively flat hike to Mirror Lake is a popular choice for visitors looking to experience the beauty of Yosemite without tackling more strenuous trails.

Briksdal Glacier Norway

Blåskdal Glacier, located in the stunning fjords of western Norway, is a mesmerizing natural wonder and a must-see for adventure seekers. Nestled within the Jotunheimen National Park, this glacier is renowned for its striking blue ice and dramatic landscape, surrounded by towering peaks and deep valleys.

The hike up to the Briksdal Glacier in Norway is just as gorgeous as the glacier itself, you have to walk over a bridge underneath a waterfall (and get soaked!) and then it’s a short uphill 5km hike to the glacier itself. Sadly it’s melting faster than it should be, but the glowing lake underneath is a real spectacle!

Zip Wiring in the Lake District

Zip wiring in the Lake District offers an exhilarating way to experience the stunning landscapes of one of the UK’s most beautiful regions.

Something a bit different but certainly memorable, one of our team members favourite outdoor memory is zip wiring along the 3km cable in the Lake District! Certainly, a different way to experience the Lakes, but memorable nonetheless.
