THURSDAY 19TH DECEMBER - LAST DAY FOR STANDARD CHRISTMAS ORDERS | FRIDAY 20TH DECEMBER - LAST DAY FOR NEXT WORKING DAY CHRISTMAS ORDERS (MID-DAY CUTOFF)

If you want to beat the crowds and enjoy some dramatic scenery head to the Nevis Range Mountain Resort. The best months to visit are February or March. Fortunately access to the resort is mostly on coastal roads, which rarely have snow.

Our tip: don’t miss the back corries for a great run.

Those looking or something steep might want to try Glencoe Mountain Resort. Keep in mind that it’s not a resort that is predictable when it comes to snow, so this may need to be something that is booked at the very last minute.

Our tip: try skiing down the Main Basin, through the Canyon and arrive under the Cliff Hanger Chair. Keep going across the Plateau until you reach the Access Chair.

You’ll find both skiing and snowboarding at Glenshee Ski Centre. Again this is likely to be a last minute trip, but quite often January delivers the best snow with the occasional suitable spring day.

Our tip: buy your chair lift ticket online to avoid the queues.

The resort that you can rely on for snow is the Cairngorm Mountain Resort. In fact, it’s so reliable that it has a large number of season ticket holders. With excellent views and a scenic mountain railway, you’ll rapidly reach the top of the piste.

Our tip: be sure to try both the Aladdin’s Couloir and the White Lady piste.

Families wanting to ski in Scotland are best suited to The Lecht Ski Centre. Although it’s smaller and quieter it has the right set up for kids with its shorter runs and shorter queues. Located in the Cairngorms National Park, it’s got beautiful scenery.

So much for global warming: It turns out that the snow conditions in Scotland have actually improved over the last few years. This has led to enhancement of ski centre facilities. Here are our 5 favourite Scottish skiing spots.
