The festive season in the UK brings a sense of magic and wonder, perfect for creating unforgettable memories with your family.
What better way to soak up the holiday spirit than by taking a scenic Christmas walk through some of the country’s most enchanting landscapes?
As you would expect, the Attwoolls family has experienced countless walks around the UK over the years. We’ve compiled our list of favourites for you to enjoy with your family this Christmas.
1 - Gloucestershire Broadway and Tower
Take an enchanting walk through the picturesque Cotswold high street of Broadway and along the historic tracks up to the Broadway Tower. With spectacular views across the Severn Vale into Wales, this walk gives you a taste of the Cotswolds and is perfect for moderate fitness levels.
Why not take a flask of hot chocolate and enjoy the views with a warm beverage in hand? You can even make a day of it by getting lunch in one of the many tea rooms or pubs in the village of Broadway.
Distance - 4 miles
Difficulty - moderate, some steep sections and stiles
2 - Dorset Lulworth Cove and Fossil Forest
Great for families and dogs, the Lulworth Cove walk takes you along Shingle beach and into Dorset's dramatic Fossil Forest. Take a step back in time and discover the petrified remains of a cypress forest that grew in a swamp during the Jurassic Period.
This dog-friendly walk is ideal for taking in the wonderful scenery Dorset has to offer. Along the way, venture into a pub for a festive treat. The giant stromatolites are easy to spot and make excellent photo opportunities.
Distance - 2.2 Miles
Difficulty - Easy, some uneven ground and optional steep hill
3 - Northumberland Lindisfarne and Holy Island
This easy circular walk is the best way to experience the tranquillity of the holy island in Northumberland. Check out the dramatic 16th-century Lindisfarne Castle, with its beautiful walled garden and ancient ruins of the priory. If you're a history buff, then this walk is for you and great for sharing with the family this Christmas.
Remember, Holy Island is cut off from the mainland at high tide, so plan your route and check the forecast before setting off. Discover this magical walk during the month of December for cold, frosted landscapes.

Difficulty - Moderate with some walking at height
4 - Sussex Devils Dyke and the South Downs
Just 5 miles north of Brighton, Devils Dyke is a fantastic place to explore for a magical Christmas walk. Offering panoramic views of Sussex, it is a 100-meter-deep V-shaped valley on the South Downs Way.
Our favourite walk starts and ends at the Devils Dyke Pub, perfect for a spot of lunch before or after the walk. A classic pub with a rustic interior certainly makes a magical walk this festive period.
Distance - 2.5 miles
Difficulty - Moderate, rural trail
