Whether you're a seasoned camper or trying something new this year, these five Christmas camping recipes will add a touch of festive cheer to your outdoor adventure.

1 - Three Cheese and Cranberry Toasties

A classic cheese toastie has been elevated with cranberry sauce for a Christmas twist the whole family can enjoy at the campsite. 

Ingredients:

  • 100g Mozzarella
  • 100g Cheddar cheese
  • 100g Stilton
  • 8 slices of bread
  • 4 tbsp of Cranberry sauce
  • Knob of Butter for frying

Method:

1, Grate all three cheeses together in a bowl

2, Sprinkle the three cheese mix over 4 slices of bread

3, Spread cranberry sauce over the remaining 4 slices of bread

4, Sandwich both sides together and place on the grill 2 minutes on each side

5, After 4 minutes, take off the heat and wrap each sandwich in tinfoil

6, Return to the heat for 3-4 minutes, turning or until the cheese has melted

7, Take off the heat and serve

2 -  Cinnamon Baked apples with granola

Ideal for a festive feast, cinnamon-baked apples are a delicious pudding to finish off your Christmas dinner.

Ingredients:

  • 4 baking apples
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Chopped nuts, dried fruit and granola
  • Ice cream (optional)

Method:

1, Remove the core of the apples, keeping the bottom in-tact

2, Mix Cinnamon and sugar together

3, Fill each apple with a tablespoon of the mixture and top with ½ teaspoon of sugar

4, Wrap the apples in foil and place them on the BBQ

5, Grill for 20-30 minutes, turning every 10 minutes. You can pierce the apples with a fork to check if they are cooked. 

6, Once baked, serve with dried fruit, granola, nuts and even vanilla ice cream for the ultimate Christmas dessert when camping.

3 - Turkey and Cranberry Meatballs

A delicious side to your camping Christmas dinner or with pasta, these festive meatballs are a tasty little treat.

Ingredients:

  • 500g Turkey Mince
  • 4 Rashers of streaky bacon
  • 30g of breadcrumbs
  • 30g Dried cranberries
  • ½ onion, finely chopped
  • Orange zest
  • 1 tbsp of sage, finely chopped
  • ¼ tsp of garlic granules
  • Salt and pepper

Method:

1, Combine all ingredients together and mix well

2, Evenly combine the mixture into 20 small balls

3, Add the meatballs to the grill and toss occasionally until cooked

4, Serve in a dish or add to pasta and classic Italian sauce.

4 - Mulled Cider

Create a tasty winter warmer with this classic Christmas camping recipes with to be enjoyed around the campfire.

Ingredients:

  • 1 litre of dry cider
  • 150ml apple brandy
  • 250ml apple juice
  • 75g of brown sugar
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 star anise
  • 6 allspice berries
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 apple, sliced

Method:

1, Add all the ingredients to a large pan either on the hob or your BBQ

2, Stir well and leave on the hit for 30 minutes

3, Make sure it is simmering and not boiling

4, Serve in glasses, and it's ready to enjoy!

5 - Christmas Nachos

Have you ever considered adding turkey to nachos? The Christmas leftover nacho dish is always a crowd-pleaser during the festive period!

Ingredients:

  • 250g of leftover Turkey, shredded
  • Large bag of salted tortilla chips
  • 125g of cranberry sauce
  • 150g of cheese (brie and cheddar melt the best)
  • 1 pack of bacon lardons

Method:

1, Preheat your BBQ or grill and layer 2 sheets of foil, rolling up the edges to create a border. (you could also use a BBQ dish)

2, Place half the tortilla chips on the foil or dish and sprinkle half the cheese, bacon, turkey and cranberry sauce.

3, Repeat this step until all ingredients are gone and grill until the cheese has melted. 

4, Once cooked, serve and enjoy!
